Homebirth

Autonomy, respect, safety, and support are at the heart of the midwifery model of care. These principles inform my approach to comprehensive prenatal, birth, and postpartum care. I work with a very low volume of birth clients, so I have the opportunity to cultivate meaningful connection with each family.

Prenatal care starts as soon as you're ready to enter care, that might be as early as you get a positive pregnancy test, or you might decide to make a change later in the pregnancy. Either way, we follow a routine prenatal care schedule with monthly appointments until 28 weeks, twice monthly appointments between 28 and 36 weeks, and weekly appointments until you have your baby. You get a full hour face to face with me for each appointment. When you're in active labor I come to your house and monitor your vitals and baby's heartbeat, support you logistically and emotionally, and manage the clinical aspects of the birth. I catch your baby (or support you or your partner to receive them with your own hands) and take care of you at home for about six hours postpartum or until everyone is stable and ready for some rest. I come back to your house 24 hours later. Postpartum appointments are flexible, as often as at one week, two weeks, four weeks and 6 weeks.

Homebirth is a great option for folks who are expected to have uncomplicated pregnancies, births, and postpartum experiences. The majority of pregnant people fit that description.
